The Town of Allendale has been awarded a Community Development Block Grant from the South Carolina Department of Commerce for the re-modification of substandard community housing. The areas targeted consisted of the three block radius on Railroad Avenue between Hay and Ozzie streets. The grant is being administered through the Lower Savannah Council of Government. It is the hope of this project to provide the citizens of Allendale with a safer, more efficient way of living. |

The City of Allendale has completed its beautification initiative that created a downtown district that is aesthetically pleasing to town residents. The project has also increased tourism. The project was mainly centered around the business sector of Allendale where US Hwy 278, Hwy 301 and SC Hwy 125 intersect.
Broken benches, street lights and signage were replaced with sidewalks and decorative fixtures. |

The Downtown Master Plan is an architectural proposal that seeks to define outdoor spaces for the purpose of creating a walkable, pedestrian-oriented community. It specifically addresses the preservation and renovation of neighborhood buildings, sidewalks, crosswalks, medians, lighting and signage and the creating of on-street parking. The Master Plan creates the kind of environment that will set Allendale apart from its surroundings.
